Blueblood To Stretch To 600m With Feature In Sight

Wallacia Mist will be on trial for a Queensland campaign when she contests a strong Non-Graded Stakes over 520m at Richmond on Wednesday night.

THE regally-bred Wallacia Mist will showcase her wares at Richmond on Wednesday when on trial for an interstate trip.

The Luke Brown-trained chaser contests a strong Non-Graded 520m event at the western Sydney venue where Wallacia Mist owns a 29.52 personal best with three wins and three placings to her name from six starts at Richmond.

"I think the two (Foray Banner) leads for fun and if it leads and she can find the rail behind it, she should be hard to hold out," Brown said.

"It's a good race and Blue Falcon will be hard to beat but if we are in front of it, she will be hard to run down.

"I'd love to see her get a tow from something for the first three quarters of the race because that's the set up I think will see her go better than 29.5."

After Wednesday night, provided Wallacia Mist runs to "expectations", Brown's focus will switch to new territory.

He's keen to test the daughter of Superior Panama from Nicki Fields over the 600m trip.

"I just think at the elite level, she lacks a length consistently to the first mark which makes us reliant on box draws," Brown said.

"Overall, she's definitely fast enough at that level.

"Over 600m, bend starts, dogs with not as much early pace, I think she can make her own luck a bit more and with the times she's been running home at Richmond and Wentworth Park she should easily run 600m.

"If she runs to our expectations on Wednesday, we are going to take her up to Brisbane to have a go at the Cyndie's Magic over 600m."

The heats of the Group 2 Cyndie's Magic will be held at Albion Park on May 30 with the $112,500 final a week later on Group 1 Flying Amy Classic night.
