Exciting Rupee Pup Sets Tongues Wagging

DEVON Meadows trainer Vicki Wisener is hoping exciting youngster This Train can live up to his name and is “bound for glory”.

DEVON Meadows trainer Vicki Wisener is hoping exciting youngster This Train can live up to his name and is "bound for glory".

This Train, a son of Aston Rupee and Imminent Reality, looked every bit bound for glory when he won a 7th Grade (525m) at The Meadows on Saturday night in 29.86, the best time of the night.

"He is raced by Glenn (Rounds) and his mate Jason Woodbridge in Queensland," said Vicki of This Train.

"Jason raced Aeroplane Eric with us.

"Glenn is a fan of country music and its history.

"This Train is a song sung by Sister Rosetta Thorpe and the line in the song says ‘this train is bound for glory'.

"Let's hope the dog is bound for glory."

This Train is one of four pups bought by Glenn from one of the first litters sired by his former superstar race dog Aston Rupee.

"Graham James bred the litter and he bred the mother Imminent Reality," said Vicki.

The dam won nine races and was a finalist in the Ballarat Oaks while winning in 29.35 around Sandown.

"We have a brother to This Train called Whisky Trip and he has always been as good," said Vicki.

Vicki has been in Toowoomba all week visiting her parents so missed the race at The Meadows.

"At the moment, we plan to take him back to The Meadows for a 6th Grade next Saturday night to see what he does, then we will start to plan a future for him," said Vicki.

"It is great to see a dog like this out there promoting Aston Rupee.

"He has now had almost 300 matings and we continue to hear so many great reports about the pups coming through.

"This Train trialled 24.098 at Sale the week before he went to The Meadows last Saturday night so we thought he would be very hard to beat."

The dog started a $1.30 favourite.

"This Train looks special," said Vicki. "Hopefully bound for glory."
