Zipping Caleb Brilliant In Zoom Top Romp

THE early stud stocks of Flying Ricciardo soared further at Goulburn on Friday with exciting prospect Zipping Caleb powering away with the Ladbrokes Zoom Top Maiden Final (440m).

The powerhouse performance handed John and Minnie Finn back-to-back wins in the $25,000-to-the-winner feature following Zipping Orlando's heroics in the race last year.

Zipping Caleb went to the boxes as a $9.50 chance after being backed in from $13.

But the confidence levels of Minnie Finn were considerably higher than his price would have suggested, going into the race with a high degree of optimism.

"He's a very smart young pup – I gave him a great chance today and he did the job," Finn said.

"We held him back a month so he could contest this series and it worked out to plan and the $13 was very nice.

"If you watch his heat run last week it was very good. He copped it a bit in the run again today but showed the benefit of the race experience and really came away."

In a high quality field, Zipping Caleb scored by 4 ¾ lengths in 24.82.

Runner-up was Mario Wave while Silent Accord finished third.

Zipping Caleb is a brother to the hugely exciting Zipping Strop which has taken Richmond by storm recently and has trialled a sizzling 29.60 at Wentworth Park.

The feature maiden win by Zipping Caleb continues the remarkable exploits of dam Zipping Lilly for the Hallinan family.
